About Us

Northern Neighbours was set in March 2006 as part of the Methodist Homes Association’s Live at Home Scheme.  Our aim is to help people live independent lives in their own homes.  We do this by befriending people of all ages, visiting them, doing shopping, taking them out where they need to go, writing letters or helping them to sort out all kinds of problems.  There are so many things that we can do, all you need to do is ask and you can become a member or a volunteer.

We respect each and every person as an individual and keep his or her confidences.  All our volunteers are police-checked and carefully matched to someone who needs a friend. Northern Neighbours - Ramsey Town Hall

We also run several drop-in centres across the north where members can come and make new friends or meet up with old ones.  Transport may also be arranged.  Volunteers are on hand to make the tea and join in the conversation.  Dedicated volunteers are always needed to do this and other valuable work.

A cheery smile and a friendly chat can make such a difference to someone who is lonely or isolated.
